Since turning professional in 1990, my music career has taken me around
the world playing with a number of bands, developing my style with
a wide range of experience that has included post-punk, Rn'B, jazz, world music, alt-rock, folk roots and theatre work.
Most recently, I was a member of five times BBC Folk Awards winners Oysterband, recording the album “Read The Sky”
(which reached number one in the folk charts), and touring
the UK and Europe numerous times as well as festival shows in
Germany, Denmark and Spain.
Other career highlights include tours and albums with Zubop (and later collaboration with African artists ZubopGambia);
Anglo-Algerian collaboration Fantazia; and Gail Thompson’s Jazz International big band
which included renowned musicians Claude Deppa, Mervyn Africa
and Chris Biscoe.
Alongside working as a live musician, I have also developed my teaching practice working in schools as a peripetetic instrumental teacher,
and running songwriting workshops for both primary
and secondary schools in London and Gloucestershire.
Whilst living in Northern Ireland, as well as forming soul band
The Satellites, I was a team member of The Making Music Workshops
which delivered cross-community EU funded programs. I also established
I Got Rhythm Music School with over 50 students enrolled.
